Howdy,
I have a question regarding the transmission on my new truck (my truck is about a month old). With normal acceleration from a stop, the transmission seems to shift normally. My transmission does seem to hunt for gears between 20 and 30 mph when in stop and go rush hour traffic. While at highway speeds of 70 mph when I put the pedal to the medal, the transmission clunks to accelerate.
My question is regarding the dash board gear indicator. Accelerating from a stop, I notice sometimes the gear indicator will 'skip' gears. Meaning sometimes, the dash board gear indicator will reflect gear 1 shifting to gear 3, then to gear 5. The shifting of the gears is smooth (no clunking). I don't believe there is a problem. Appreciate your input on the 'Learning' transmission.

Totally normal - the 10R80 is designed to skip gears. Mine does exactly the same thing. It's a quirky transmission overall, mine will hunt in the same speed range you described and in stop-go it seems to hang in 1st longer than I would like.
I've found it shifts better when I'm on the throttle heavy. Sport mode is fun
Tudunka,
Question for you. While at highway speeds of 70 mph and you hit the gas to accelerate, does your transmission clunk? Thanks.
Since I have less than 1200 miles on it, I”m not punching too much, but it does on occasion clunk in lower gears like when coming to a stop, then the light turns green and I accelerate and it’s between gears - yeah it does. It’s not a nice clunk, more like a “Thunk” very un-nerving.

Exactly! Very unnerving. Makes you wonder if that is just the nature of the transmission or is something wrong.
Bought my truck new. It's about 6 weeks old now with about 3,000 miles. I get four free oil changes at my dealership. I think I'm gonna tell them to take a look at the transmission when I take it in for my oil change. What a pain in the
