Passing gear question

I was talking to a guy the other day, we started talking racing and things. I told him I could hit my passing gear at a little over 60 mph, it will shift down and take off. He said it shouldn't be able to do this. . What is the highest mph you guys can hit your passing gear??

Heck yeah it should do 60 in 3rd, unless you are Dan and you're running 4.88's. LOL

I'm trying to remember when I hit O/D when drag racing........ I know it's well over 60 mph though.

Its when your trans downshifts out of OD when you put your foot into it.

Yes, like Brad said. Go 60 MPH in OD then step on it and see if it down shift into what I always called passing gear.

What I am saying is. How fast can you be crusing, then step on it and it will down shift, instead of stay in overdrive. Like the old passing gear.

I know I can't be doing 70 MPH then step on it and it will down shift, but I have 4:10 gears. That might make a difference. Thats what I am trying to find out, how fast some can go and still hit passing gear. Thanks
