Short Version
Truck died in an intersection and now all it does is start, stutter, and die after idling/driving for a few minutes. I can drive it about 2 minutes or hundred yards then it stutters and dies. P0263 Code was thrown. Injector #1 contribution/balance. I replaced the injector and did blue spring upgrade and the same code is thrown and and same situation occurs, stutters and dies.
I cannot drive this around putting up with one injector not firing, it will not run for more than a few minutes (it will idle for 5 minutes then it coughs and dies)
Guidance Please? I tried that damn BUZZ test via Car Gauge Pro and they all click, none Buzz (but I think, i hope, the app is messing up)
Long Version
I recently purchased this truck and this is my first diesel, so I am truly ignorant and teach me like I know nothing. I bought it stock knowing I would have to upgrade the oil cooler and did so in June.
My wife was driving the 6.0 the other day and it stopped running in the middle of an intersection. It threw a code (I can't remember code anymore but likely the injector code) but it led me to the idea unplugging and plugging in the FICM connections. It started right up and drove far enough to no longer clog up traffic to a nearby parking lot where it stuttered and died.

I've driven 2 hours towing a 6000 pound trailer with a non-functional cylinder before, and it only stalled twice (when coasting to slow down for an intersection). So I doubt the 1 injector is causing all this issue all by itself. Unfortunately, it's the only code the truck is giving you. Electrical shorts in the engine harness and low high pressure oil pressure are 2 things that won't throw codes in these trucks, but can cause the engine to shut off. Given that it starts right back up, the oil pressure is probably fine. I'd get it idling and wiggle every harness to see if you can duplicate the problem.
I would look into getting Forscan, I'd rather the full version for Windows on a lap top it's free. ( more options) or Forscan lite for your mobile phone $4.99. Both are better code readers than STC.
Where is your ICP sensor located (passenger valve cover or behind the turbo)?
After getting ForScan Lite (as recommended above), watch the ICP pressure, ICP voltage, and IPR % duty cycle.
Also watch FICM MPower, LPower, and VPower.
Thanks, Mark. I actually had an Elm327 delivered today and took a chance on the Car Gauge Pro Buzz Test. I will give the Forscan a shot tonight or tomorrow and post my Numbers on your recommended indicators.
Bubble test is a quicker version. Just pull the upper fuel filter and crank with the wire by the fender and see if you get bubbles. If so, and you can't tell which side they're coming from, do the balloon method to determine which head the bubbles are coming from, then pull glow plugs to identity the problem cylinder.
On the Forscan set up it's pretty self explanatory.whe you turn on app. Go to settings and select Bluetooth, it'll scan for one, and link
Once you go back to main hit the plug up left that will connect. hit tests and so on. In the test mode it be be several different tests for koeo and koer. Not hard just follow instructions. Some of it your gonna have to just play and learn. How I did it.
Fire it up.
Post some readings at operating temps. Also run koer tests at operating temps. You can also look at different cylinder graphs while operating.
Forscan is not showing the P0263 code yet like the SCT is but is showing P0472.
Oh how I wish it could reach operating temps. it wont run for more than a few minutes. having a hard enough time starting now. batteries need a good charge after all of this, so it may be another day before I see any other tests run. luckily it's an extra vehicle.
