I have a 1979 F350 2WD ..I believe it's a trailer or camper special (144" wheelbase, has side mount spare tire)
The passenger side sags almost 1/2 inch on the right side compared to the left. I found by measuring from frame to body that it really looks like it's because the springs on the right side are sagging a bit. I put some spring extenders on the front coil spring, and that mostly fixes up the front, but the rear still sags on the right (1/2 inch or so).
I was thinking of just getting new leaf springs, but it seems like most I find online are for 4x4 and I have a 4x2
Are your springs 2.25” wide? How many leafs does each spring have? If your truck is equipped with upper overload springs, don’t include those in the leaf count.
Sagging could also be the spring eye and shackle bushings are worn. Try to find a local truck spring shop. They will be able to determine correct springs to match factory and also check the bushings. I'd be inclined to let them do the work as well because it can be a miserable job especially if you have rusty bolts or don't have the tools/experience for that type of work.
I've bought a couple sets of leaf springs from ATS, a bunch of bolts, and a couple sets of shackles too. Good people, nice products, easy to use website, and a discount for members of this site.
Sorry guys work got me good this week, haven't been able to check in. Thanks for the great information. I am not sure if it's a 7/1 spring or not. I guess I would go with Number Dummy's info since he is always accurate
I haven't gotten a Marti report so I also don't know if this is a trailer or camper special, I only know it had the extend base with side spare. I am almost thinking it's a trailer special and not a camper special but it has zero emblems for either. So only way to know would be a Marti
I second the truck shop advice, shipping will cost a bit for leaf springs, a local truck shop will do everything, so you won't have to track down part #s bushings and bolts and gee gaws, u-bolts etc.
