After overlanding a few weeks ago, I realized I’d put a Trasharoo to good use. I decided to make my own, because I like being creative. It straps on nice and tight.
Total cost $30 and 60 minutes of my time. Still need to do some field and load testing but it is solid.
$26 - Medium ALICE pack (eBay)
Free - trunk mount bicycle rack (curb find, modified for my needs)
$4 - bolts to replace rivets when re-locating strap mounting points.
Free - White adhesive vinyl to protect the body from wear (scrap from local sign shop, haven’t installed it yet)
I might still add side straps to keep it from shifting, not sure if it’ll need it.
I think I can pull the ALICE pack off and strap 2-3 bundles of wood to it. Haven’t tested it for that yet though.
I think I have an excuse for another Excursion overland adventure...field testing!
