I'm looking at buying a 2019 F250
XLT 6.2 that does not have remote start. Dealer says they can install it and will be like factory. Has anyone had this done without issues?
The dealer will install the Ford accessories remote start kit. Or you can buy a plug and play kit that uses your FOBS and it's about 150 and a 5 min no tool install.

I did the installation of one of the kits on our 2011 F-250 Lariat. Had the dealership do the programming to activate it for $65 including cutting the keys.
I may try to work it into the deal. I'm wanting the ford factory one with the new 4 button keys.
Go for it. It's seriously a 15 minute installation to get it done as it's mounted right above the door of the glove box. The remotes have the four button setup as that's what is required for the remote start.

Griz
It's not above the glovebox. There is no 4 button key either. This system you are referring to was for 2016 and older trucks back to 2011. You either buy the JS7Z-19A361-A or buy the kit I posted above as they accomplish the same thing.

The 4 button key works on a different frequency and is not compatible with the base 3 button 315mhz fob you have. You option is to install JS7Z-19A361-A or use the kit I posted above.

You are correct. I was mistaken on the years for the other kit. Hopefully he can get it done on the deal.
I added the OEM remote start kit to my 2018 XL. Programmed it myself using ForScan. I use my OEM keyfobs (press lock-unlock-lock). Works great.
There are some options that are not really clear, but this might help you understand:
the standard remote start unit is the basic, and uses your current OEM fobs (as I did; stated above).
you can also get an extended range receiver; costs more but might be worth it if you live in an area where distant starts are common, such as living in an apartment complex and being several units away from your rig
you can also get a dedicated keyfob that has the dedicated start button (not required; you can do what I do) This is the fob that comes with the trucks that have the remote start added at the factory
Honestly, unless you "need" a really long range, or just "must have" the dedicated remote button, it's the cheapest to just get the basic unit. It works perfectly fine and hitting the lock-unlock-lock to either start or stop the engine is a piece of cake.
It's pretty darn easy to install, and if you're familiar with ForScan, it's just a few program lines to change.
my 2020 has it factory installed, linked it to my iphone, .......but.......after a couple months ford wanted to charge me for usage, so i deleted it from my phone. no real; need for this toy.
