I am using ForScan and my OBDII scan tool on a 2003 powerstoke 7.3L Exc and two codes of PATS B2103 and B1681 came up. Both codes descriptions state they could produce a "no start" condition. Has anyone used forscan to deal with these codes and if so can they be deleted/reset?
I found this for 2103 and 1681. It appears that you'll have to replace some parts based on what I read. Not sure if ForScan will clear them and even if it does, may not fix your issue. Have you tried the Forscan forum on their website? May be some answers there as well. Sorry can't be of more specific help.
FORscan is capable of programming the PATS system. I used it on my excursion when both keys where lost. The way i understand it, if you replace any part of the PATS system you will need to reprogram the keys to the truck. You will need at least 2 keys and a bit of patience but in the end you will save yourself a trip to the dealer.

Do you have a link to the steps you took to use FORscan to program your keys? I have only 1 key, and don't want to spend $85 for a locksmith to program a second key for me if I can do it myself.
Getting the keys cut was the hardest part of the whole process. The big box hardware stores take offense to someone bringing in a key to be cut. I found a local locksmith who would cut them for a few dollars.
FORScan has instruction prompts in the program that were easy to follow. This link covers the process well.
When I went to the PATs tab on the particular version of the program I have I'm pretty sure it said I didn't have the correct license and I believe I may have to buy the program. Not sure so if any of you have experience with that let me know.
On the issue of getting the keys cut I did go to the small box hardware and they cut them for a few bucks. I have two keys so that's not an issue.
The dealership was closed at the time so I couldn't call one to look for a part but I did find many used versions on eBay that were based off of the part number on my part. From what I can understand the same transceiver/key mechanisms were used on several different models to include Expeditions, mustangs, and more. If anyone else has more info please pass it on .
I did see where one of the codes says that the transceiver is faulty and will need to be replaced.
The issue was a loose connection between the pcim and a tuner that the previous owner had installed. When I lowered the steering column I must have inadvertently caused it to become slightly unplugged. Thank you all for the input and help. If anyone else has a similar issue please feel free to contact me.
