Fought balancing issues with BFG KO2’s for 40,000 miles, decided to go with a round tire. Put on set of Toyo MT in 295/65/20 and they are round, but pull hard to the right. Had discount tire swap one front to back, still pulling hard to the right. Went to NTB to get alignment done, it’s aligned and still pulling hard to right. Discount going to replace front left tire, we are hoping that is a bad tire “radial pull” perhaps.
Anyone had had these issues? While the BFG’s couldn’t balance, and had a few of them replaced under warranty after road forcing 90 lbs...they didn’t pull hard to the right. The pull began with the new set of tires.
Im not picky on ride, but this pull is pretty dangerous. Anyone had this and what’s the fix if replacing the one tire doesn’t fix?
sounds like radial pull. Good luck tho! I had a set of cooper st maxx that pulled right hard. we did what you did but eventually just went with RidgeGrapplers. (after a quick google the st maxx has been known to rarely and randomly pull to the right on some vehicles, guess i got unlucky cause they were bad asz tires)
I had a set of Nitto Dura Grapplers that pulled hard to the right after I installed them. After a rotation, it got better, and after more wear, it got better too. I didn't have the money to go through alignments and balancing...so I just dealt with it.
Toyo MT's are notorious for pulling to the right at least a little. Maybe yours pull harder than most. A good way to counteract this is to install a Fox high pressure steering stabilizer than will create a push to the left to counteract this. You can adjust the nitrogen pressure in the shock to fine tune the left push to get going straight down the road.
Well, discount replaced front left (the suspected culprit of the radial pull) and she still pulls hard right. I guess I will take to a true alignment shop now instead of NTB and have them align it/check it out. Something off for sure
This is a common question on the boards and it seems some trucks have a right pull with Toyo MT. I would go as positive castor as allowed and toe in some and to the left. But I’m not an expert at alignments.
I said lifetime because as soon as you swap to a different tire you’re going to want to align it.
Mud tires are simply not meant for the street. It’s like the new fad or something but it’s not my thing as I think it is ridiculous. Just about all mud tires have a pull or are hard to balance ... The vibration driving will also wear out suspension and steering components and will loosen everything in the truck. They should of swapped the tires left to right to see if it changed ...
Listen to this Wise Man
I don’t understand all the nice trucks on the roads today with Gawdy Knobbie Tires that sound HORRIBLE.
IF your in the mud 75% if the time : go for it lol
Swap front tires left to right & right to left : as mentioned it’ll prolly make your pulling better but that’s the price you pay with MT Cleated Tires on the Hwy.
