Hey I had a cac boot blow out bottom hot side on the banks intercooler package. I am wrestling this oversized pipe that hits my alternator and have read that they reduce throttle response. I want to put a mashimoto converter boot for the bottom to allow for the oversized intercooler outlet and change the hot side pipe to the standard Ford upgrade. Is there a reason to have to change the cold side as well?
Thanks as usual.
It also helps to wipe the inside of the boots with brake cleaner and the same for all of the inlet/outlet ports.
That way you have any oil removed. Then for some added help get some Aquanet hairspray and spray the
boots. Put things together while the hairspray is still wet and get them set how you want them and clamp them.
Thanks y'all for the input. I got it all back together. Clearly the boot position on both the pipe and inlet has to be exact to make this not leak. My struggle was that every time I tried to tighten the clamps the boot would pinch and the clamp would slide off. But I got it right.
Still might change these pipes out back to stock.
