Hotside intercooler pipe.

Hello all, I have been looking through post for the past 5 days and have made it through 101 pages of post. My question is if the hot side intercooler pipe should wiggle or not? There is quite abit of play back and fourth in mine. I can't seem to find the answer but I have learned alot searching through so many pages.

2012 Lariat
Thanks for any info

I was just going to reply yes it supposed to wiggle.

But you piqued my curiosity and I wanted to go see how much play mine had in it, which is a good deal of back and forth play.

One of the purposes of the rubber boot on it is to allow it to flex, when the engine does. If it was rigid, it would break. If there are no leaks, don't worry, the boot is doing its job.

Just so we are clear, the hot side pipe connects at the top of the intercooler and the cold side pipe connects at the bottom and is the one that breaks.

Was the purpose of this thread to get us 6.7 guys to run outside and waggle our intercooler pipes? It worked - lol. My hot side definitely moves quite a bit more than my cold side. Now I proactively replaced my cold side with a Mishi. it moves but not nearly as much or as easily as the hot side.

Thanks for the info. My cold side upper boot exploded and it got me checking around the hotside.

I have only seen one thread where the hot side has given any problems. The tube is metal and the boots are silicone. The person who had problems had a boot go bad and leak.
