It it almost looks like it filled the float bowl up and leaked down the shaft the goes to that linkage.
Any ideas?
Scare up a shop manual or carburetor manual in .pdf, read it and study it. There ain't much to it, but what there is, is really important. Make sure the fuel pump output pressure isn't excessive, too high or too low. That's first. Then set the float height after carb is installed on the engine, people always forget this part, so the fuel level or wet height is in spec, and after it idles for a few minutes on level ground. This spec is in the manual, maybe can find it on the intertubes if you dig around. The carb on my Y-block (for an example) wet fuel height is listed at 29/32", they want it dialed in "just so" apparently, if they are talking 32nds of an inch, nome sayin'? If fuel level is too high it will run too rich, or even flood, if too low, it will run lean. Neither is any good.
I like what you suggested there with float height. If the foot is too high and it lets fuel go down that shaft maybe that’s what I’m seeing. I didn’t do any adjustments when I threw it on but will now and see if I can get that lined out
thanks for the diagram from numbers dummy and for your suggestion
Took it apart, everything looked clean but I realized where the fuel line hooks up was another fuel filter so I replaced that also. Set the idle screw and it seems to run well without leaks.
Ill keep an eye on it, probably dirt like suggested.
