1974 F-250, 390 V8. I bought the truck and it had a Edelbrock carb on it. The carb does not seem to hold a prime. The truck will run good, but when I shut it off and go to re-start it, I do not have any fuel to the venturi. If I tap the side of the float bowl or remove the line and reinstall it, the carb begins to get fuel again. The problem seems to happen if it is hot or cold. Is this a pump problem or carb??
Check the fuel inlet on the carb. If you remove the fitting or fuel line going to the carb, you'll find a small screen filter. remove it gently, it probably has crude on it not allowing the fuel to flow into the bowl. It's common on Edelbrocks. Make sure you got a good fuel filter in the line going to the carb.
I have already checked the screen and filter. That is how I noticed that when I put the line back on it begins getting fuel. Anymore suggestions and I will go on down the list.
