Any one run into issues with their Sync3 system not seeing the USB drive? I plug it in and the usb stick blinks a few seconds and then turns off, no prompts on the Sync screen. If I plug in the iPhone, CarPlay works so I think the USB ports work ok.
My 2019 has a WiFi card and I joined it to my home network...so at least when I m in the driveway it’s on line.
when I start my truck it always says checking for updates.
how do I tell if I need what you are referring to?
This is a map update so you won't get it ithrough your truck WiFi. You have to go to the website and put in your truck's VIN and sync esn to see if you need it.
If you do, you have to download the update and put it on a USB drive to install.

How is it formatted ? FAT32 or exFAT are the accepted formats
What is the file structure on the usb
you should have
SyncMyRide (folder)
autoinstal.lst
DONTINDX.msa

Sounds like you might have a bad or defective USB stick.

Did you format the USB as exFAT and volume name SyncMyRide?
And the license file you downloaded needs to be in the SyncMyRide folder...not in the root folder.
Don't know if anyone has seen this. Here is a lengthy thread on Sync 3 Maps update over on F150 Forum. https://t.ly/dwJML
It updates the maps to version 1.18 NA (latest version)
It is a free (download) for 18-19 vehicles. Everyone else is $109 (download) $150 USB.
The updates have not been issue free. Several people have reported systems looping and updates taking well over 2 hours.
I have helped a couple guys with install packages.
Here is the link for the site. Maps update
I did successfully update the wife's 18 F150.
You will need the VIN and Sync ESN (Not the modem ESN) it will be at the very bottom of the about sync screen (maybe on next page)
Hit me up with any questions or help making it work.

Worked fine for me yesterday. Thanks for posting this!
Yeah, both drives were exFAT, tried it from my Mac and PC, no difference. When I plug in my iPhone for CarPlay it says accessory not supported, so CarPlay works but it doesn’t charge, tried a new cable and different phone, same issue.
