Shock mix up

I just installed Bilstein 5100 rear shocks in my 2013 F150 4x4 STX. The mix up involves part nos. and years. I installed part # 33-186009 for 2004-2009. My truck calls for part# 33-187501. Don't ask why ( I'm old and the mind drifts from time to time) I can't seem to find how much of a difference this makes or how much of a problem I have if I leave the #33-186009 rear shocks on the truck. I did not notice anything out of the ordinary when I installed them. I do tow a 25 foot Travel Trailer wt about 6500#. Any Problems with leaving the shocks installed? Thanks!!

The rear suspensions are almost identical, doubt you'll ever notice a difference.

Thanks for the reply, been looking around to try and determine the difference in the shock if any so far no luck finding anything on the shocks as far as performance goes, pretty fair guess not many people make this kind of mistake. Truck feels fine towing performance is my concern I guess.

Based on the stats Steve posted, if your suspension is stock, the shock you installed will function without issue. If you ever plan to put a taller block in the rear, the 186009 may be too short.

Many thanks JKBrad to you and Steve for your replies feeling better about the mix up, since I ordered the the shocks from Amazon (which listed them to fit 2013) I may just return them and order the correct shocks. Just knowing that the application is not 100% correct will always make me wonder, **** that way about my truck, Thanks again guys

Good luck with the rear shocks which should be easy to find and install. The next thing will be the front struts and that is not easy to figure out. I now have two dealer quotes and a trusted independent shop on front struts for a 2007 F-150 4x4 and the prices are all different. By as much as $600. Either way you are looking at $1,000 with either a front-end alignment or not - none of them seem to know for sure. That price would also include rear shocks.

At 166,000 miles on the originals thinking I'll just keep running it as is. Which seems to be what the dealers and shop are thinking as well. Why does this have to be so hard to figure out? Not sure any of them really want to deal with the front struts.

Thanks for the reply ck1404, yeah fronts can be a real bear compared to the rear, four bolts and your done, fronts not so easy, have you checked with an authorized ford mechanic, thats quite a bit of mileage on OEM equipment in my mind, I wish you good luck as well.
