Y block timing pointer

Y block timing pointer
Got a 272 that I had to change pulleys for adding power steering and changing the original pulleys. In doing so I can't put the original timing mark pointer back as it was. Looking for suggestion to fix, hoping there is another part to fix it that can be used. Thanks for any help...

Can you take a pic of the new setup? As a practical matter for the time being you can make a pointer out of scrap steel or heavy wire that will allow for timing the engine.

When you say you added a sheave for a PS INSTALL, are both sheaves on the balancer or did you install an additional pulley for an additional sheave?
Did the take-out 272 have a front cover that was meant for a PASS CAR INSTALL or LT INSTALL? If your vehicle is a LT, what year and was the engine original to the truck? What year truck do you have?

I'm not Ford knowing, this engine was in the truck when my son got it and the steering was shot so the idea was put P/S on it. Had to change the frt pulley/counter balance but have no idea what they came off of. After looking and trying we got the belts lined up and on. The place we got them the man there had cars and no trucks so I think the pulleys were from a car application. Mat have to rig up wire or something to time it. Had hoped that a pointer off a car would work but might be back to trial and error unless someone else has been down this road. The change over came from MidFifties...

The damper is too big for where the pointer was on it originally...I'll try tp get a pic of it.
