390 in F250, (the short story) I bent my crankshaft and thusly wiped it out... Now I'm trying to find a crank kit.
It seems all parts chain stores handle the Crankshaft Rebuilders re-man kit but all are out-of-stock.
I havent located any other reliable sources to order a crank thats ready-to-go.
Also, I am unaware of aftermarket replacement options other than stroker kits. It does not seem that any are compatible with factory connecting rods?
Any pointers of where to go or what to do will be appreciated.
I'm attemping to avoid an entire rebuild or conversion process due to time constraints (my engine has very low hours since last R/R just an unfortunate circumstance, the only damage is the crankshaft) If i cannot locate a crank kit I would rather go after a short-block for now(seems to be equally evasive).
I tried looking for a stock size 390 crank via Summit. No luck. Doesn't mean they aren't out there.
Survival comes up with slow response complaints from time to time and the "answer" seems to be "business is good", maybe too good.
I have not been FE shopping (ever) so I don't know how many old 390s are lurking in the yards, but I would work that angle and just buy a motor. Not sure if the cranks changed at some point, but that motor was in production from '61 to '76, and beyond if you count the FT versions which can be whittled down to FE size by your local machinist.
This link is to an excellent forum for the FE engine. You can join and ask for a dealer near you. The builders often offer rotating assembly balancing service and can guide you in selecting any other components.

Yea, good luck with that today. Competent local machinists are nearly extinct today that could whittle down and rebalance an FT crank to work in an FE application. Even FT cranks are getting scarce. No surprise that FE crank kits are "out of stock" It's been 43 years since the last 390's left the factory.
Sometimes E-Bay can be your friend. Several years ago I converted my 360 to a 390 and got the crank kit and rods from sellers on E-Bay. I was a little hesitant but everything was as advertised and I had no problems.
Right now there's a 390 crank on E-Bay for $300 + shipping. That's not bad until you look at the shipping ($120.00). I looked up what I paid for shipping and it was $35.00. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-390-Cr...MAAOSwo3pdcWna

Gotta remember you're shipping nearly a hundred pounds. And with UPS, that's about a dollar a pound.
Well I think I caught a little bit of luck, I happened to come across one (last remaining) in stock with rockauto so I ordered it. It should arrive tomorrow, so when I get home this weekend Ill see what we got. It was 250 with 200 core and cheap shipping. I did talk with survival, he had several core candidates but nothing ready to go at this time, he even offered to send me one I could take to get ground. When I get this sorted out, I really am going to be pushing to get my original 360 pulled back out of storage and start rebuilding it so I will have a spare engine on hand.
Thank all of you for your replies and if i have any wierd updates to this situation ill be sure and post.
