share the same bellhousing bolt pattern as any of the other ford V8's Can you replace a tritan motor in a 1998 F250 with any other motor is what I was wondering about.
Triton has "Modular" bell. Almost ever series has a different bell.
But the real killer here is electronic. You will never make a different motor run right without bringing with it the ECU, wiring harness and a host of other items.
IMO find the proper identical replacement.
If the truck isn't worth a reman or guaranteed used motor, call the scrappy.
The Triton family of motors sit lower and are wider than the older small blocks, I wager you will have a difficult time swapping one into a truck not made for it. I can't recall specifics but this topic has come up before, moral of the stories are it's just not worth trying it. Build your existing motor, be done with it.

Not what he's doing. He has a '98 F-250. There was no such thing as a '98 F-250HD (that went from the '97 OBS to the '99 SuperDuty) so he must have the standard F-250 (that everyone including Ford now calls an F-150). That truck originally came with a Triton so he must be wondering if he can put something else in its place.
To the OP, my answer is that anything's possible given enough determination, time and money, but this seems like something that would take a lot of all three. And you'll find more people that know about Tritons in the '97 - '03 F-150 forum.
