CEL/ EGR?

CEL/ EGR?
1994 F250Xl 2wd I6 C6. Truck runs great.
Upgraded cluster to an OE unit with tach. Made sure bulbs worked. Surprise I GOT a CEL. OBD1 code 332. Snooped around found broken vacuum port EGR vacuum control. Replaced, disconnected battery, test ride, no CEL. Problem solved. But with EGR active truck runs like poop at low - mid throttle. But no CEL. Pull vacuum line off EGR and plug it. Truck runs slick again but have a CEL. Any ideas other than pull the bulb out?

Had to get this Hurricane by first. Timing is @ 10btc. The trucks behavior is very consistent. Egr hooked up,bucking and missing, hell the tach even jumps around. But no CEL.
Pull the line and plug it. Smooth and quiet, tach acts normal. But a CEL.
Maybe advance the timing some with EGR hooked up?
