Adding Brake Booster

Good Evening,

I have a '67 F100 with stock drum brakes front and back. They stop the truck but with two feet and I dont think emergency braking would ever happen. So I am going to add a brake booster. Been looking at various kits and mpbrakes.com seems to have a relaible kit.

My question is this... what size of everything do I need?

8" dual, 9" dual, 9" single?

1" bore or 1 1/8 bore?

Any complete kits (with bracket) besides mpbrakes? I don't want to junk yard it for this setup.

Thanks!
Jeremy

I wish I had an answer, but I will be sub’n on this thread. I have a ‘68 I want to do the same to, and add disc up front.

I have a 71 250 sitting next to my 68, and everything looks the same. I was thinking of getting a new booster and master cylinder for a 71 250 and putting that on there, and cross my fingers it works.

I also wanted to upgrade the non-power brakes on my 67 F250. Since PB was offered in 67 I went to local NAPA and ordered a completer rebuilt unit that consisted of master cylinder and power booster. I wanted the complete assy to make sure that both were compatible. Some issues with push rod? Normally I would order a new MC. At first the counter guy was not sure if it was available, so he checked his books! Anyways he ordered the unit.
To install the unit I went to local pick pocket your part and found the 2 adaptor plates. The only thing I had to fabricate were the 2 hard lines to the distribution block. Very simple.
BTW - Hope the pix show. This is first time to resp with pic's. The OEM PB works great - Bob

From what I understand to upgrade drum front brakes to disk brakes is way more involved. Hope this helps - Bob

I always try to use what the factory offered on upgrades so that is why I used OEM stuff. I have attached a pix of box booster/mc came in.

I am still learning this site. Hopefully I have attached the brackets necessary to add the power unit to the truck. I believe these can be found on evilBay. - Bob
