Well I’d kinda like a manual and the auto gets beyond horrible gas mileage, like 6 to 8 mpg
Do you think the MPG will be any better with a NP435? .. It could be about the same...or worse.
It doesn't make any difference what engine/trans these trucks have.
They have the aerodynamics of a brick, a gallon of regular back then was about a buck and no one gave a hoot about MPG
Figure about 8-12 city, you might get 13-15 highway if you drive 55.
You're going to have to find the bell housing, all the clutch linkage, plus your existing brake pedal will not work. Master cylinder and brake booster may not work either.
btw: Who would buy one of these trucks, then expect to get good gas mileage? Dream on, because it ain't gonna happen!
Here is my post and Bullitt390's post on the topic that should help you out. The NP435 definitely will work just fine if you have all the necessary parts.
length of trans all diffferent and drivelines different too, alot of parts ur gonna need a donor 435 truck chassis and also all the clutch link parts and clutch pedal and so on. my 73 F350 is factory 390 435. most all the FE trucks were 4 speed so at least they are common you should be able to find one for donor parts ur gonna need. im looking to convert my 75 C20 to a 465 or 435 trans and dump the Th350 out of it,, so im looking at the same deal right now except GM. having no luck at all finding 2wd 1983 older 4 speed parts or parts chjassis or truck here,. at all. notta,, used ot be dirt common here,,, not anymore.. i hate auto trannies, alot.. manual trans dont slip and so lower rpm at a given speed up to 1:1 ratio direct. no converter slippage. unless you have an auto trans model that has converter clutch TCC locckup. but C6 dont. either do most Th35o, but in the 80sd there weree some TH350-C models these had a TCC converter lcokup in them,. and then there was the metric 2980s 2004R too. in the cars like firebirds caprices elkies montes buicks olds caddies etc. witgh olds and buick and chevy motors inckuding 4.3L and the diesel olds 350 motors 1978-85., 10 bolt bellhousing dual pattern to fit all GM motors and also the diesel 6.2L also. im glad the ford trucks got 435, ive alwats wanted a 435 truck, finally have one after allll these decades waiting.. and dana 70 HD 3.37 dually axle too.. love it.. my fav totally.. exactly what i want in my '67 68 style C30 chevy dually truck build project too hmm.. it is the original 420 trans still because its a 65 model year chassis,.
