is a T18 a manual transmission? if so I also thought their was a np435 or 427 something like that..... what are they.. are these manual trannys tougher than a C6? whats the diff. between them? i'm thinking about changing to a manual in a 1977 F250 divorced 4WD. Also did they put the same manual tranny in the F100s and F150s as the 250's? finally and most importantly are they the same length as the C6 so I wouldnt' need to change driveshaft lengths?
thanks a lot chevy

np435 was, as far as I know, used in 4x4 applications where the t-18 was for 4x2, they are both 4 speeds with a low low first gear.

I think the T18, np435, and c6 are all very tough transmissions. The manuals have lower first gears and that is a good thing for towing. I have all three transmissions in trucks i have now and I think they are great trannys and are better than what replaced them, except for getting worse gas mileage.

If you want to put a manual in that truck it will have to be an np435 and not the t-18.

Same tranny, different transfer case.

If memory serves me right, the c6 is longer.
If anything is wrong I'm sure I will be corrected.
thanks a million man
one question though..if it's a divorced setup why wouldn't a t18 work? i'm only asking because I found one near I live for cheap
thanks again chevy
A 2wd T18, T19, NP 435 will work in your situation, not sure about the driveshaft lengths tho. If your lucky you might be able to find the right length driveshaft at a junkyard, if not, I would reccomend only changing the shaft between the tcase and tranny, that way you will only have to do one.
