Transmission HELP!!!

Hey all,

Hoping to get some pro help here (or at least someone who's had the same issue with some sound advice). I have a 97 F350 SWR with 286,000 miles. Truck has had regular maintenance and some upgrades but I don't beat it up or tow/haul regularly. About 2 years ago I put the TS 6 position chip in with no issues. Recently I put the 6637 DIY intake on it and ditched the old box air filter. Not long after that I had some issues with the truck randomly shifting into neutral while at highway speeds. I would slow down and it would pop back into gear. Decided to change the fluid and filter. Seemed to go away for a few days but then came right back. The problem not only persisted but it became progressively worse. I took it to a transmission shop. He found several error codes which he cleared and told me that my performance chip was likely causing the issue. Truck was running fine after that then started doing the same thing again so I removed the chip, bought a code reader and cleared all the codes. Seemed to fix it but lo and behold it started acting up again this morning. I hooked up the code reader and the only code is P0113 for the air sensor which I unplugged to put in the new filter. The guy at the transmission shop said that could be causing the issue. I REALLY don't want to put the old air box back on but it seems like my only option at this point. Any advice???

Your problem is a failing MLPS (Manual Lever Position Sensor) also known as the TRS (Transmission Range Sensor.) It is located on the driver's side of the transmission. It has the wiring harness attached. Replace it. It won't set a code, but trust me, it's bad.
