Hi Y'all
I am new to FTE. I have a 1999 F250 superduty 7.3l diesel with 200K miles on it.
I have been having some transmission issues- it has been running hot, but never over 250 F . When it got to around 250 F some tranny fluid seemed to have boiled out of the top of the tranny.
I flushed the transmission- rebuilt the bypass tube check valve and am about to replace the 7.3 tranny cooler with a bigger 6.0 one. Tranny is original and shifts hard when I accelerate fast sometimes, but had no metal when i flushed the tranny.
I have been having a strange issue- when tranny gets over 200 F it has problems in reverse. Truck will die unless RPM is over 1500, so i have to gun it with the brakes on to get it up a hill and i smell either tranny or brake fluid- but nothing is leaking.
My question - Is this an issue the torque converter going bad or something in transmission.
Thank you so much for any help.
Well, judging by the fact that I read it seems to me that this is a problem in the operation of the torque converter. Dokontsa is not sure, but there are signs. In any case, it is better to contact the service station
