2 bolts on the pump, I assume the High Idle solenoid for the AC is what you mean, pretty easy.

OK there is a Cold start advance solenoid in the Injection Pump too. it works from a Temp switch.
That one is a little more involved.

But they both still work off the same Temp Switch

For what its worth, the engine pump and everything else will function without it. My grandpa unplugged the one on my 92 when he got it, was that way for 20+ years. I hooked it up for a while then decided i too prefer it without. How to change it - 2 7/16 head (1/4") bolts on the right side of the pump by the throttle arm, 1 plug on the top of the IP. The stud in the solenoid is adjustable, CW is in, CCW is out.

cold Advance is under the top cover, my guess is you are replacing the one that kicks the throttle linkage, Test the Temp Switch make sure it has Voltage

Yes ... exactly, on my 93 I have added a couple Diodes so it Kicks the Idle up for the AC compressor when it kicks in

OK that is the engine Temp Switch ... and yes when Engine is Cold that switch is CLOSED and energizes Both Solenoids .... when Engine warms up a BIT then it opens and the Solenoids turn off. that was the Item I wanted you to test for voltage

and it is not hard to change, you won't loose much coolant.

I bypassed mine years ago and put it on a toggle switch on the dash so I can jump up the idle anytime I want. Not to be the grammer police, but high idle in diesel shop manuals, diesel shops, the truck driving world, is maximum no load governed RPM. Big difference between that and the cold fast idle.

Sweet I'll check it for voltage when I get back to the truck is it pretty easy to change
