Manual Window Winders, (regulators)
Going to use the 2 best doors, sand them down, paint etc....

I want to replace the manual regulators with new one`s. After market I guess is mostly Dorman, and their products
are not all that great from some things I have read. The one door I took apart was manual, and the shaft is pretty
wobbly from years of cranking on it and this is the pass side.
You guys have any recommendations on what is best to use? The good, The bad and the Ugly.

Well I ordered two, R & L and two new Window Cranks, should be here in a few days.
We`ll see what brand they are. As old as I am. will probably out last me any way.

Just something to think about,
Peter
Your old one I dragged home is right in the shop where I unloaded it.
That is an interesting thought of swapping the shaft and gear. from the pass side.
Though the one pass side I removed from the PNP door, must have had a lot of use.
Pretty wobbly. There are probably others out there is better shape.
I wonder if there could be some sort of sleeve or bushing that could be slipped over
the shaft to take up the side to side play?
I had another thought. The regulators installed from the factory were riveted in. one
of my used doors had been replaced and was bolted in with 1 inch short 7/16 head
bolts.
Why couldn`t the bolts be installed bolted down tight, then have some one with a
welded tack weld the heads in place. Then it would be a matter of lineing the studs
with the holes and screw the nuts one. It was kind of a pita getting the box end
inside the door to hold the head to remove the nut. Just a thought.
I ordered the new manual Reg`s from the grave yard.
Don`t like Chicom parts either, but this many years down the road we are kind of
stuck with China, India, Pakastan etc.... OH and Viet Nam is on the scene now.
Not much new OEM stuff laying on some dusty shelf at a dealer etc...

I looked back into my records for the truck and found that when I replaced the door seals and rubber, I ordered them from Fairchild industries. Don't know if they are still around. It was about 10 years ago that I did what you are dealing with right now. Their stuff looked just like OEM rubber. It gave my cab that air tight feel when you slam the doors.
Good luck with your recon of the doors. Be sure to redo the vapor barriers, it makes a big difference in the winter.
