A good 20 mile freeway cruise helps a ton.

I let the engine do the work with a series of 10 - 15 seconds cranks and several minutes in between each crank. I was surprised that I needed to add about half a quart of oil to the HPOP reservoir after the first crank and then topped it off two additional times.

I am not surprised about the level. You had air in the system. once shut off the pressure has to go some where. The oil is goes via least resistive path, IPR port.

Mine gurgled like crazy after the first crank. I thought it was odd since engine was cold. Only heard that noise on a overheating gasser before.

I cranked mine over for 30 sec with GPs removed a few times and it still gurgled.

Mine fired after a few cranks and ran rough until I did a nice highway run

I have now run my truck for over 200 miles since completing the repair and glow plug/injector o-ring maintenance. After pulling a gooseneck with a moderate load, driving San Antonio highways and some country driving, I’m quite happy with the truck’s performance. It starts right up, pulls well, sounds good, and I got 14.7 mpg over the 200 miles. I really appreciate all of the tips and suggestions from this group - thanks again.

Good stuff. Did it smoke at all for you? If so how long and how much?

No noticeable smoke. It was a good thing because it was midnight and I didn’t feel like pushing it outside so I fired it up in the garage (with all four bay doors open and a good breeze).
