To the original poster. I wouldn't delete, until you have a problem. THEN it makes sense, but to do it strictly for mileage isn't going to gain you much. It isn't cheap to do it, but after you do....you will LOVE your truck that much more!

Sure the system has some quirks but nothing we cant live with.
Put all the chrome, lights, big tires, and make the truck a reflection of yourself. Thats what I fought for. After all this is America.
My 5th wheel is 34 foot long and loaded around 13,000 pounds. I don't camp in mine I travel around the country. I have pulled 33,000 miles with my truck so far. I have been from the west coast to the east coast a couple times. Numerous trips to the mid west. I have been from Texas to Canada We have visited more than 50 cities and we are still not done traveling. I installed air bags to keep my truck from sagging. I also installed the compressor on the truck so I don't have to drag out a cord to air them up. Oh crap i modified my truck LOL Not to mention the 4 inch hole I cut in the bed of the truck for the hitch. LOL
I was looking for a picture of my rig but its on my other computer.

You just give the guys ammo with what you post there, Mr. Bone. To each his own most will tell you, but sarcasm is forever...

I've been on here doing my weight loss research as well. There is definitely no shortage of opinions when it comes to this subject here. That is what I think also, to wait until there is a problem...an expensive problem.

One thing I learned is it doesn't take much to get expensive.

If it doesn't remain in that mode after you start it, start over and hold the button while starting until it enters the mode. It's been a number of years since I've tried this.
I haven't tried this yet so hopefully I won't forget and give it a go. Thanks.

I get what your saying but when your 2000 miles from home and truck goes into limp mode towing a 14 k fifth wheel and its a clogged egr you will wish you did the delete b4 the problem. Just playing devils advocate. Then you are stuck fixing the problem and if you are out of warranty it will be very expensive and to delete later you just doubled your costs.

Update:

I drove the truck to Florida from Colorado, straight through 28 hours. On state roads running 60-65 I was getting 14.6 bad on the interstate 75-80 mph I was getting 12.9 on cruise control and 13.4 off cruise and on the pedal.

I manually calculated mileage 4 times and each time the dash read for mpg was dead on. Surprised with the Speedo being off by 5mph that the mpg reading would be totally accurate.

Im going to leave the truck as it is until I have issue with emissions and at that time I’ll consider deleting emissions control.

Thanks for the update. I learned early on with better than OEM tires these engines burn a lot of fuel at or above 80 MPH.
