2013 6-speed recall.....
I've been looking at FX4 trucks. Found a '13 with a Black Ops package by Tuscany. The salesman said they were getting some recall updates done at the Ford house. It's a 5 L with all the bells and whistles. I noticed the tranny shifting up and down at the slightest throttle movement. Just did not feel right. Otherwise it was a nice ride, especially for a lifted truck. It's got 80,000 on it, I need some adult supervision, don't need a problem truck. Last time I bought a clean looking vehicle it was a money pit. Confused about this recall, is it for all the 6-speed autos???

No, the "recall" covered several years and all motors... There is a SOFTWARE update and there is an EXTENDED warranty if a future problem involves the LEAD FRAME inside the transmission pan...... There are 2-3 extensive POST already covering this problem......... After the SOFTWARE update, the transmission may shift harsh until it learns YOUR habits.

6R80 is a great tranny. There is a software recall currently out. On the '13 5.0 they recalled them a few months ago (Recall 19S07). Just this week they realized that they screwed up and released an update for it. Recall 19S19.

On the 5.0 I'd be more worried about bottom end issues. Lots of threads here about this. The problem was mostly fixed by '13.
