So here's an oddball issue. My truck got detailed today - and as I'm driving it later on the Touchscreen on the Sync 3 unit is selecting "phone" or "apps" all by itself. Sometimes it switches right over, sometimes the button is greyed out like a half press for a few seconds and the screen is frozen until that screen is selected. Only thoughts are that it could be some result based on the kind of cleaner they used? As soon as I got home I'll clean it with screen cleaner and see if that fixes it, but boy is this annoying. Anyone else ever run into this?!
You have something on the screen that's causing a resistive or capacitive response. Just wipe it down with a terry cloth and see if that gets it off. If not, use something on abrasive like a monitor cleaner.

That sounds like what I want to hear - I've got some touch screen cleaning wipes at home, I'll give it a wipe down this evening. Just funny that it happened after they detailed the truck. I'm sure they used an inappropriate cleaner or something on the screen - it's very smooth and shiny

I hope I’m wrong but I think your APIM is going bad.
For whatever it's worth, Tricon was (of course) onto the right track - I gave the screen a good cleaning with some touch screen cleaning wipes and then another hour of driving showed the issue to be solved. I'm sure it must have been something on the screen causing that to happen, and THANKFULLY, Gabar, the APIM appears to be fine. I'll tell you that was the first thing through my mind too - APIM is toast. Same thought process and fortunately it seems like it was just a dirty screen - waste of a thread but thanks to you both!
I've noticed my charging cable and my external mic cord when the two way radio is on will do funny things to my screen if they get too close or touch it.
You say you just had it detailed. The detailer probably sprayed some cleaner on the screen and it ran down below the bezel and was making the screen think it was being touched. You wiped it and the rest evaporated. I would mention that to the shop if you go there frequently. Spray the cloth first, then clean.....

I reached out to mention it to them - happened on a Ford Flex we had done at the same time with the same Sync 3. Clearly a procedural cleaning issue. Thanks all!

Awesome.
Glad to hear that all it took was a simple cleaning with a different product.
