Head stud install question.
I believe, since it wasn't a direct quote, the author abbreviated the tech's response that the stock headbolts are more likely to stretch (or be stretched) to cause a failure over ARP studs. We all know this.

I don't think we have to be nitpicks.
Trying to do 1 stud at a time on a 6.0 Powerstroke on aged gaskets is not recommended.
Can it be done? Absolutely. Has it been done? Yes. Recommended this day in age? No.
Since there were inquires about the age and mileage (2006 /130K), are you stating that it would be rare situation that this truck has uncompromised gaskets?

fwiw, jumping off the recommeded vs doable train. I personally know someone that has reconditioned and reused head gaskets and those gaskets are still holding. These are on RV hualing trucks....my dad's.

Anyway, I am trying to understand what is doable in regard to installing studs. The reason has been stated, to ensure the greatest reliability possible as I use out of the box X4 SCT tunes. I will likely be deep into the engine inspecting to see if the HPOP fitting has been replaced as well as the other failure prone componenets that plauge 6.0's.
Honestly, I do believe my question has been answered, it is possible and there is good advice wether to do it or not, and how to do it...(I completely forgot about the motormount technique for gaining access).
Anyway, Thanks guys. I have good info to act upon with these responses.
