Is it possible to install head studs without removing the heads? This might be a dumb question but I couldn't find anything doing a search. Would new gaskets be neccesary?I have a 06 350 short box and am looking for a little more power, but wont chip because of the coolant blowing issue. I had a 04 with that problem and don't want to go down that road again. BTW, the truck is awsome!!
you might be able to replace them one at a time and torque them. but never heard of this, also from what I under stand that when they pull the heads on a late model PSD they have to pull the cab off too. so I don't know if that is needed just to do the studs, but if so then at the point of doing all that work I would go ahead and put some good replacement gaskets on. good luck,

It is not Ford recommended to pull the cab. Some techs have it down to a science and hope that Ford will take notice. This method is less intrusive than gutting the front of engine bay. The passenger-side with the cab still mounted is real PITA when working around the AC housing. Most technicians find they have less lower back problems and can access the engine relative easy and better.
