Possible ICP going bad

Yesterday I was driving to lunch and had my throttle went dead. Truck was running fine, pulled up to a stop sign and went to go and nothing. I was able to roll in to a parking and restart the truck and drive it back to work. When driving it home I noticed a delayed throttle response. I checked codes and there were none.
Then this morning the truck cranked up fine and drove out of the neighborhood fine. Once out of the neighborhood and on a busy street I came up to a red light and it starting idling rough and I had a dead throttle pedal. I turned the truck off and restarted it and it was still idling rough. I got out unplugged the ICP sensor and the truck cranked right up and drove to work like a dream. The only codes I show are P2285 which I assume showed up because I unplugged the ICP. Would I be correct to assume this is a ICP failure? How long would I be okay with driving the truck with out the ICP plugged in?
Truck is a 2005 F350 with 139000 miles and I'm using a SCT X4 to monitor engine parameters and read codes.

Sounds like a bad ICP sensor to me. I suppose it might be in the wiring also, since disconnecting it moved the wires around.

As Mark mentioned might also be the wires, so if there is any sign of chaffing or oil replace the pigtail.
Get the real thing from Motorcraft is the only other thing I would add......the China made crap is just that, and won't give you good performance or accuracy.

I'm going to pick up a sensor today at lunch. I didn't no see any chaffing or wear on the pig tail. How long can I run with it unplugged would I be alright to drive for the rest of the day?

I wouldn't see a problem running for a day or two. Some people have run it for VERY long periods. I just don't know how efficient everything is on inferred values. I hate the thought of possibly generating more soot and getting lower fuel economy.

Just replaced the old ICP sensor and there was oil on the old one. I cleaned out around it, screwed the new one in and cleared the codes. Truck cranks up and runs great. Put it in gear and let it idle for about 10 minutes with a steady idle. Throttle response was good. Know ill see how it drives on the way home. Hopefully that's all it was.
