I'm stripping down an old econoline engine to replace the cracked block in my 03. I have some familiarization with California models for 99.5-03. I was not aware there was such a model for the OBS, but I found a pulse damper on the fuel lines coming off of the pump, and the fuel line are obviously different! When I looked up this part to see what it was (I was a bit puzzled when I saw this part), it seems to be marketed for CA models only. I have also noticed that there are different part numbers for the EBP tube for CA models and non CA models. Now I don't have a non CA engine sitting directly next to this one to compare side by side, but I don't see how this tube would be any different than the one on my non CA engine. Are there any other differences to look for on this engine?
Yup 30% larger injectors(120cc) vs the 90cc of the 48 state truck. That means 30% more power when tuned. I had 300RWHP out of my tuned cali emissions truck
IIRC the GPR shunt is different.
other: the PCM, the FPR has a harder spring (I think) b/c the fuel pressure is already high (don't shim the Cali b/c it will wear out your pump way prematurely.
