Can the 2004 be chipped?

My Granddad just bought a F-150 and I was looking at it and the computer box seems to be located under the hood over the passenger side of the engine. I didn't see anywhere for a chip to be plugged in. Is there a connection somewhere else that allows a chip or can we only be reprogrammed? I know that this truck has OBD III which is a CAN protocol (Controlled Area Network) so there may be another computer box somewhere else in the truck? Thanks for any input!

Chipping wont give you much of a performance boost in a normally aspirated engine. IMO not worht it. Now if you have turbos or something of that nature like in an S4 chipping can give you large performance gains.
