I know this has probably been answered a bunch of times before but I couldn't find it in a search or the FAQs
What made a F250 get the 50 over the 44. I know it was supercars and was there a snow plow prep?
and does anyone have a spring code chart saying the rating and how many leafs?
I know it was special order. I would think if you wanted a snowplow package Ford would make you buy the f350. Not sure besides someone just checking a special box.

not sure how that would effect anything since they both have the same front axle GVW

I have worked for large companies, state agencies, and now the federal government. They are all mostly the same as far as how they do things, so I figured Ford would be the same, and not give any warranty to the truck with a plow on it unless the proper f350 package was ordered. I am guessing the plow prep package could not be ordered on a f250, even though you could theoretically "build" one with the correct options.
This is all a guess on my part, I really do not know. But that was the reason for my answer. Sorry I did not help much.

but you could order the plow prep on the f250 and it wasn't the f350
I've got 4 F250's in the field of dreams. 3 of them, (2 single cab and one Supercab) have the D50 and one regular cab has the D44HD. Always thought this was a GVW thing. FWIW, the trucks with the D50 also have full floating rear axles. The D44HD regular cab truck has the semi float rear axle.
