Questions about headers

So what started out as a head gasket replacement on my 95 460 has turned into a full rebuild. The question I have is I purchased a set of headers to go on it any of you ever put the headers on then installed the motor or should I wait till the motor is in and install them then.

Long tubes? Wait til engine is in (you could keep engine on the crane for this if you think it'll help). Shortys? Doesn't matter.

I've done both. Definitely install the motor first. And if they're long tubes, take '89's advice and do it while the engine is still on the crane. Being able to tilt the motor a little bit will save you a lot of cursing.
