header question
Hello all,
i bought my 73 f250 with headers and true duals on the truck. Headers are really rusty. No holes that i can see. I want to take them off and clean them up. bolts up top all broke loose easy enough. my question is to the pipes come up through the hood or down underneath.
Also if i do need to replace them, can some of you guys recommend a header. Ive heard of long tube and short. How will i know wich one i neeed

You don't don't mention which motor/trans combo you have or if 2 wd or 4 wd. All can make a difference in what you need to do to install a set of headers. I have a 76 2wd with a 460/c6 combo. You have to loosen the motor mounts and raise the motor on mine to get the headers in and out. If you know the make/model of your headers, you should be able to go to the manufacturer's website and print a copy of the installation instructions.
As to long/short tube, it is going to depend on what type of performance you are looking for. You might want to consider calling the tech guys at the manufacturers you are considering. They can help you choos a product for your application.
