I'm looking for a consensus on whether to install my new engine with the headers already attached or wait until it is in to bolt them on. Opinions? Thanks.

Not sure what your truck is, but I couldn't install my 390 in my 65 F100 with the headers on. I dropped motor and tranny at the same time, then put the headers on. You need to get a jack under the motor with a short piece of 2x4 and pick it up enough to drop the headers.
I could be wrong, and 4x4's and 2x4's and different animals.
I usually lay them in the compartment, drop motor in, then bolt them on. A couple towels keep them from getting banged up too bad.
Freightrain, The only way to fly. Then you have no header feeding into the truck problems that require jacking the motor. I have been know to leave the headers attached to the exhaust system when pulling the motor. One less think to worry about.
Ya, most times the exhaust is still hooked to keep things inline and not falling out of place. If not, get a couple coat hangers to strap them to the inner fenders.
Greg...step away from the frig............time for bed....LOL!!!!
Great. Thanks for the advice, everyone. I'll set them in place and bolt them on afterwards. I'll use the towel technique as I just painted the headers with that $15 per can Eastman header paint and I sure would like them to keep looking like they do now while they're sitting on the bench. BTW, it's a 67 F-100 2wd.
