I just can't imagine a well maintained system needing violent flow for flushing ..............
Caterpillar states that for a well maintained system, flushing with chemicals isn't needed. That tells me that they expect a clean system.
I haven't gotten any solids out of my coolant filter in probably 50k + miles.
Just my 2 cents.
Bismic you may be 100% correct but unfortunately I do not know what I am dealing with here. I just acquired the truck with 184K miles. The only thing I know for certain about the truck is that it has a clogged oil cooler and the current coolant is gold in color. My thinking is take ever precaution to make sure all my bases are covered from the start. I intend to flush the coolant system the best I can then replace the oil cooler. Doing this I will know exactly what is in my coolant system and how old it is.
The chemical flush may be a waste of money and time but for me, the peace of mind is well worth the cost and time spent.
