Ok so.im trying to flush my coolant and am having some trouble with my coolant block plugs. The drivers side doesnt want to budge, its soaking in wd-40 so im hoping it will come out before it strips. But my paasenger side one above the starter seems to be a bolt. Now im debating whether or not to remove the starter to get a closer look. Should i try and remove this bolt or do I have the wrong plug? I cant find any other plugs above the starter let alone a 1/4" one.
Mine also had two different type plugs in the water jacket, a hex head plug near the starter and a 1/4 drive style on the drivers side. Try something besides WD40, it's not a real penetrating oil. Kroil is my favorite but no one around here carries it and I have to do an internet order. PB blaster and Liquid Wrench work ok and are readily available.

x2. PB Blaster works pretty well for something you can get anywhere. And you can get it anywhere from a little small can to a bulk jug. I used one can of liquid wrench and it worked fine but I REALLY hated the smell of it. It's like burnt hair and hairspray. If you have the time spray it good every now and again for a day or more and then get after it.
Well i soaked it a couple times before i took off for my finals and by the time i get home all the auto parts stores will be closed. So I 'll give them a try when i get home and if they dont want to come out then they will stay put cause i need my truck tomorrow. I mean u wont be hurting anything when i flush it and dont pull the plugs right? I got the flush kit.and about 20 gala of distilled water, enough for two flushed and then the final top off with the fleet charge.
You're not gonna hurt anything by not getting the plugs out, but you will leave about 2 gallons of old antifreeze in there, and you won't get it all out without removing the plugs imo.
Ok well i got home early and got the passenger side out and got about a gallon but the drivers side wont budge so its staying in. What hose do i cut into to place the flush t? The one off the block is to short and wont come off the fitting, maybe 6" and curved so i know it wont seal right. I was thinking about the one that comes off that t, near the hose from he block, and heads down towards the radiator. And do i need to put red loctite one the threads again cause thats what looks like was on it.
I wouldn't use red LocTite on anything that may need to be removed again. Thats threaded anyway. A thread sealant like Bob's Gasoila would be fine on those plugs.
Yea i did the oil cooler yesterday, man those rear orimgs were so hard i thought they were metal. And im on my last flush of distilled right now, then i'll be adding coolant.
Yea i was fighting with it for about 30 minutes or so and couldnt get it out no matter which way i twistes. Then i got a tip, that raising that side of the engine about an inch or so with a cheery picker would help. So i did ane it almost fell right out. Then getring it apart was easy, and putting it together wasnt to hard, just used a jack and put it against my rear bumper since i dont have a press.

I used liquid teflon. The guys at my local napa set me straight on what to use.

That's what I'm afraid of, is there a way to jake up the engine a little without a cherry picker?

That i dont know. I know not everyone has to lift the motor, but i did just cause it took a couple extra minutes and made taking it out a whole lot easier than to keep fighting with it. But what i found as even when i lifted the motor it still didnt want to come out, until i leaned over the front tire and stuck my hand above the frame and grabbed the front of the cooler. Then i freed it fom whatever it was hung up on and it just about fell out. So hopefully you dont need a cherry picker.
