Did compressor wheel upgrade this weekend. Just seems like boost pressure should be more then what it is. Was 15psi WOT stock. Still 15 psi WOT.
did the boost leak test. Lots of air coming from ccv underneath. Replaced o rings. Sealed right up.
THE PROBLEM? The system will now pressurize. BUT, the air escapes from the Dipstick tube.... being the motor has 251k I hope it isn’t worn out. Is this normal?
I’m going to update signature ASAP
I drove home (20 miles from work) and still 15 psi from a dead stop. It runs Under 5psi freeway speeds unless I get on it. Then only boosts 10psi around 60MPH.
My other issue could be that I haven’t owned a ford for 3.5 years now. My 5.9 Cummins in my dodge boosts much more. I know it’s a completely different engine and has nothing to do with it. So don’t rag on me.
But just saying maybe all is well and I’m just being paranoid??
You are pressurizing your crank case if you are putting pressure through your crank case vent, and it sounds like you are, pressurize from the turbo inlet on, and the only crank case pressure you will have is from air that will go past your rings. Do it with a motor up to runing temp as well. I have boost leak tested many motors to the point of turning the crank by air pressure.

If you put 20 PSI to turbo inlet and it is leaking out of dipstick, you have some issues with your engine.
