it's just the Delphi Pod from Aliexpress/alibaba it's a Delphi clone 5041
the guy at ChinaVacuumPumps was nice enough to sell me a single, normally you have to buy bulk, but I explained to him it was for an old truck and may not fit but I wanted to try it.
BTW they sell the complete pump for $15-$25 USD if you buy 100 Minimum.... I'm sure this is where Cardone, Autozone, and other cheap parts houses get them then they Jack the price up and try to retire off a single sale... Bastids

Uh... I've been googling and looking for what you are talking about and can't find it at all. Trying "delphi pod", "delphi 5041",
"ford vacuum pump", "vacuum pump delphi" etc etc etc...
Please post a link. I cannot figure it out!
the 2nd seller only has a Minimum of 1 each for complete Pump, you will have to deal with individual sellers to find the Pods there is no direct link for them.
BTW it will be at least a Month before I see the one I ordered, they come in the Orange Conex on a container ship (AKA Slow Boat)
but I'm in no hurry
Anyway my point was not to advertise these things but just wanted to know what is the difference in the pods.. is the stroke different ? is the mounting foot print different ? maybe just the outlet angle of the Hose Barb ? or is it a different Vacuum Volume ?

I know, but I could use a couple on the shelf. They do tend to fail after ~20 years.
My friend has a '97 PSD to compare to. It looks similar to the '93 one I have, but the pod looks different(rubber hose running from bottom side to top side).
I've been thinking about swapping an OBS IDI pump and seeing if it works(the '97 one is shot). Looks like it will bolt up, but we'll see.
yes the 97 has the extra hose as it is a "Dual Action" pod but I think even that Pod should fit a 93 or 94-96 and probably most of the earlier vehicles too, the Pump itself may not bolt up but I think the pods should interchange... BUT I don't know for sure... this is what I'm trying to discover
I think even the Pods off some of the early Gov't Motors 6.2 diesel may even fit the Ford too.
When I broke down in Prudhoe Bay Alaska with a busted vac pump, we went to the Ford mechanic. They have a decent inventory of PSD parts, but not a lot of IDI parts. They even said if we had showed up ten years earlier, they would've had a half dozen vac pumps for that engine on the shelf. But in 2013, they didn't have a lot of IDI's coming through those parts.
They tried to install a PSD vac pump in the spot of my IDI vac pump, but they said the frame rail got in the way. They couldn't done some custom welding to make a bracket and install a shorter belt, but we decided to "goldstreak" an IDI vac pump from Fairbanks instead. It took 3 days, but we got it.
I'm not sure if you'd have similar problems with the IDI truck, trying to install a PSD vac pump, because in the IDI van, there isn't enough room to install the PSD pump. But this might give you some info on trying to work with the PSD vac pump.

Thanx for the info,
Yeah I can see it may be an issue with installed location, on my 93 F250 it sits on top of the engine between the AC compressor and the top timing cover, installed height shouldn't matter much for me.
my pump Drive Mechanism is in good shape, the POD is just old and getting slow to recover (the old A/C switches to the defrost Vents issue)
it's not so bad that it is not usable but I wouldn't want for my life to depend on it
a POD change will fix it and I could rebuild the Drive Mechanism with local sourced Bearings
you can still find the Drive Mechanism for the 83-92 but No PODs I'm not sure why the 93 is not listed ... 93 seems to be a Bastid Year for some reason.
FWIW, I know the vacuum pump from my 93 7.3l idit won't fit on my 86 6.9l idi. They're essentially the same part but the vacuum pump drive mechanism from the 7.3l has a smaller shaft than the vacuum pump drive mechanism from the 6.9l. I suppose it's because the 7.3l uses a serpentine belt while the 6.9l uses V belts.
OK, I have discovered the only difference in the POD from the 93 ...;.. in 94-95 they changed the angle of the Inlet Nipple by about 45 degrees so when I get new POD I will just have to reset the position of the inlet Barb... no big deal.
And FWIW the Specs for oil in the Pump Mechanism is 10 CC of 90 wt gear oil <<== these specs came from a contact at Lucas, the bearings and seals are all generic and can be matched up at any good bearing/seal supplier even from WW Grainger.
even the 97 POD can be used on the 93 F series if you make sure the inlet Barb is at the correct angle.... your Mileage may vary when using it in a Van but I think the PODs will work in the Van as long as the Barb is also pointed in the correct direction, Pulley and shaft sizes may vary from one model to another but this is not and issue being discussed in this Thread... I'm only messing with the POD itself.
