thanks Joe.
I called a couple wrecking yards and one told me 1993 and 1994 only interchange. I don't understand because I have combined the parts from the various years before and other than engine emissions I haven't noticed much difference.
1993-1997 bodies are essentially identical, barring a few minor details.
1998 and later may have body parts that will interchange, but the whole front of the truck is different, so it would likely require some modifications.
Measure mounting locations. I think later models (2008 & later?) are slightly larger trucks by an inch here or there.
Best bet would be to find a '93-97 with a good frame, good drivetrain, and a bad body.
Yards tend to go by official interchange guides to cover their posteriors.
Since you'll be pulling the cab anyway you can get ahead of the game and ****** it now, then take pics and measurements to aid your frame hunt. I enjoy cab and frame swaps because they got me things like my '76 F100 cab on F250 running gear and my K1500 4WD 5.3 under a six-banger cab. I used to do them at a used car lot (building from wrecks is very common) and the only tedious part was wiring harness swaps. With a cheap trim tool kit it's easy to swap interiors.
Is the entire frame wrecked or just the tail end of it (the area where most of the bed sits on)? In case the yards aren't checking for one already, ask them to search '94-'97 b2300 models also.
If a 92 would work I'm preparing to scrap mine. cab is too rusted for me fix but the frame is in good shape. Been sitting in my garage for 6 years.time to part with it.
Where are you at? The entire rear section behind the cab, the main rails were flaked through and the cross members are gone.
I have found them available in yards down south but the price and shipping I have been hesitating.
