2nd gen ecoboost 3.5 engine.
Could anyone educate me what does the sensor on the driver side PCV hose do?
A quick search came up that it seems to be a cankcase pressure sensor.
What does the ECU do when it reads the sensor output?
By my knowledge, crankcase pressure should be very little and close to atmosphere pressure.
Any PCV valve will see positive pressure. They are designed to vent crankcase pressure back through the induction system. A boosted engine will probably see a bit more pressure than a normally aspirated engine, but I don't know how much. It stands to reason that if a boosted engine starts developing a problem. Blow-by that might be an irritant on a normally aspirated engine could be a big problem on a boosted engine.
