Being a new owner I keep discovering things and have a couple questions, Im sure I will continue to find more things to question. The first time I washed the truck, I noticed that when spraying the doors the lights would come on like they do when the door handle is touched with the key fob in pocket. Is that normal and if so how can that be avoided? Another thing, when I remote start, the drivers seat vent is on full blast. Any idea why that would happen? I haven't been using the cooled seats so its not that it was when last driven each time.
For the lights issue, as far as I know, it will only to that if a fob is close by - in your pocket or in the car. Otherwise I would think the lights would flash in a parking lot if people just brush by the car.
When washing, if you have the key fob in your pocket you can get it to lock and unlock with just soap/spray/brush/etc as it thinks it is you touching the handle. just take the fob out of your pocket and either put it in the truck or leave it in the house. Slightly annoying, but easy to fix. Gladly *** that one step to have the convenience of keyless / push button.
The seats are coming on because you told them to. There is a setting in the dash menu for remote start climate control. If in auto, it will turn on the heat and heated seats when it is cold, and will turn on the AC and cooled seats when it is warm out. You can turn it off in the menu. You may find that when it is nice out (say 62 Deg) and sunny, the cab heats up due to the sun and thinks it’s warm and turns on the cooled seats.

I'll look into the setting but I'm pretty sure I dont have it set to auto. Yesterday morning was in the low to mid 50's, used remote start and just the driver cooled seat was on full blast, no other climate control changes seem to be happening. I'll try again this morning.
Ok, so this morning I remote start and the seat vent isnt on but as soon as I press the start button it turns on full blast. I checked the remote start settings, it was set to last setting and steering wheel/seats were on auto, I turned that off.

The heated and cooled seat lights will not illuminate during command start operation. When you hit the start button, if the cooled seat lights come on, the cooled seat was on during the command start cycle. There have been a few users report a problem like you are having. Their cooled seats turn on at startup even though they had them off when the last shut down the truck. I know in my truck, if I have the seats turned off at shutdown, they seats will not turn on at startup unless set to automatic. I think it’s just a weird glitch on some trucks.

Thank you, sounds like this truck has that glitch, great. Do you recall if there was a fix or where I might find more info on it?
Similar issues but most seem to be having it happen on start up without even using remote start. One while running, thats even worse. I guess ill bump the thread to see if anyone else will chime in or has had a dealer fix. To me a glitch is a factory flaw that should be fixed not passed off as "nothing you can do".
I used remote start again last night and this morning. The seat vent stayed off, and all the climate control settings seemed as they should. It must have been the auto steering wheel/ seat setting, I set it to off yesterday.
Still seems odd that when that setting is on, it would blast the cooled seat on a 50 degree morning.
I'll throw a couple more questions out there...I've only noticed a driver seatbelt warning (could do without it) not a passenger warning, normal? When applying the parking brake it feels kinda rough, not a smooth operation. It could be that I haven't had a foot operated parking brake for a long time, does that sound normal?
You can disable the seat belt warning. The procedure is in the owners manual. I believe the only time the passenger seat belt warning will go off is after driving for a few minutes. Can’t really remember since I disabled my warnings about 8 months ago. I can’t help you out with the ebrake since I’ve always had a foot operated ebrake.

I tested the passenger seat warning out, it never came on even after several miles of driving. Not sure what it would already be disabled, but that's ok, I'll be doing the same for the driver side.
I would have to try the parking brake on other trucks to see if it's normal, it just sounds and feels clunky as well as having alot of travel to engage.
Is there a way to get the gauge brightness setting to stay? I turn it down using the buttons on the dash but they seem to go back up to full brightness the next time I drive.
Unrelated, I found this under the driver seat(not the quarter). Self clearancing?
As far as the washing issue, I also have the same problem with my wife's BMW. The solution is to throw the key fob into the vehicle while washing. Then none of the external lock/unlock features are active.

I forgot about this thread, thanks for the reply. Post #3 suggested the same, and thats what Ive been doing ever since.
