Question Heated seats

My Lariat has the heated seats, which I use quite a bit in cold weather. However, when the truck is turned off, the seats turn off also. Is there any way to set them to come on when I use the remote start? Thanks for your help.

The only option I see for mine with the remote start is off or auto. I'mnot sure at what ttemperature the truck decides they need to come on.
You could check your remote start options and make sure they are at least on auto.

mine is set to AUTO in the Vehicle menu. With remote start, in winter, I get seat heat and in Summer I get AC cooled seat. Not sure what the threshold temp is for it to work or not, but in extreme temps (which is when you need it) it seems to know which to use.

This is one of the few things the SuperDuty does better.

You can pretty much count on cooled seats to come on when needed (80f+).

The heated seats came on around 32f..... hard to know for sure here... I think it happened once.

On my 150 the cooled seats seem to come on a little more randomly.

Even as low as 65f. but some times when its 80f they don't come on???

It hasn't been cold enough to see what temp the heated seat comes on.

If your remote start isn't a factory install, I don't believe there's a way to do what you want. But if it is, you can turn this mode to auto in the info center or whatever it's called.

This is from the 2011 factory service manual for details about when the seats heat or cool under remote start operation.

Remote Start Climate Operation (If Equipped With Heated Or Climate Controlled Seats)
The customer can select different climate control modes/preferences when the vehicle is started using the remote start feature. This can be accessed through
the message center. For information on how to set the remote start preferences, refer to the Owner's Literature. When the driver seat and/or passenger seat is
set to AUTO mode, the driver/passenger heated/climate controlled seat activates in full heat mode when the outside temperature is less than 0°C (32°F) and
full cool mode (climate controlled seats only) when outside temperature is greater than 27°C (80°F) any time the vehicle is started using the remote start
feature. No heated/climate controlled seat adjustments are recognized during remote start operation. Once the ignition is cycled to the ON position, the
heated/climate controlled seat returns to the previous settings (last ignition ON cycle) and adjustments can be made normally. If the previous setting was off,
the heated/climate controlled seat turns off.

I've never had this issue with my factory remote start. In the morning it turns on the heated seats + defrosters all the time. In the summer, obviously the cooled seats come on. Very happy with this. The range of this thing on the other hand....
