Rain leak returned but in a different way. Previous leak was from the rear, now the front. Front of the headliner has a wetness mark. About 1-2 inches wide along the windshield all the way from the left sun visor attachment to the right. I took a picture of the stain but didn't capture the wetness mark correctly. And the passenger side floor channel has a puddle (underneath the vinyl floor mat). Any suggestions would be welcome. By the way, no electrical anomaly. The windshield was replaced about 5-6 years ago because of crack. I noticed the headliner stain for the first time this year.
I popped the rubber strip between windshield and the roof. The channel was full of dirt. Blasted with compressed air, steel brushed, soaped and rinsed. Once the channel was dry, I filled the channel with roof patching compound, and reset the rubber strip. I will have to wait for next rain to tell for sure.
best way I ever found to locate water leaks, wait til it's raining cats and dogs and dark and you're not parked near ANY light source. The darker the better. Get in it, and use flashlight. You can locate much sooner than you can during daylight.
UPDATE: The rubberized roof tar is soft and flows well into recessed areas. It does not harden. But it has an issue. It cannot hold in place the rubber strip that covers the channel between roof and windshield. While driving, the rubber strip got blown off and fell into the bed. Now I have to use a real adhesive to reattach the rubber strip. LESSON LEARNED: Don't use what I used.
