A little exhaust goes a long way in terms of smell. Remember air is only 20% oxygen, the stuff we need, so it doesn't take a lot of contamination to make for a dangerous situation.
It would cause low boost and low power. Where are you, I have a brand new Y pipe you can have if you're close.
Yep you will loose pressure from the leaks so the turbine side of the turbo won't get the energy to spin the compressor side to give boost.
Do you have a tool to read live data? Look at the numbers for the EBP sensor. (Exhaust Back Pressure) You may find it lower or the VGT
might be able to deal with if it's small. However there is still the issue with exhaust fumes in the cab. Best to hunt that down and fix it quickly.
Remind me the year you have and if your deleted or not. I can post the PDF for you.
I've seen the ebp up to 50 psi. See the pic, may have to zoom in to see highest value. The LARGE map gauge is the actual boost.
Yeah Sean, deleted and straight piped.
I'm pretty certain the Y pipe isn't leaking. The only place I could possibly find was driver side where the y pipe meets the manifold and the manifold to head on one cylinder. No leak on rest. I tried to tighten the nuts but I fear the bolt will twist off if much more pressure is put to them. I'll purchase some hardened bolts before I start to really torque down on them in the event they do twist off.
