6.4 problems

I've had my 09 6.4 for about 7 months now and in the last month or so I have gone from 600-650km to a tank to under 500 I've been doing less hwy driving but not enough for that big of a drop I believe. Also I have a loud whistle when accelerating usually around 15-20lbs boost and noticeably less power,I was told possibly up pipe? And I regen usually about once a week and ita embarrassing how much smoke pours out of my baby especially when regen ing in the city. Dpf delete is top of my list. But also interested in egr delete and possibly fix up pipe if needed.

Anyone had similar symptoms?

I heard up pipe is a cab off type job. What did that cost others to fix??

Thanks for any tips

First we have to find the leak, check the rubber boots connecting the inter-cooler pipes, my guess is one has ripped, if that's the case that will fix the problem. An up pipe usually causes exhaust gas to leak, not so much a whistle, a whistle is a tell tale sign of a boot leak.

If you smelled exhaust gas in the cab during a regen then I would suspect the up pipe as a source of a leak.

does not mean that it isn't but I would check your turbo boots first.

You are going to need to get it on the hwy and run it hard and get it cleaned out.

The emissions make it difficult for strictly city driving.

I haven't been able to find a hole in the rubber boots. I did have a rusted out section of my intercooler hot pipe but I fixed that already. I did get an increase in boost pressure after that but the whistle didn't go away.

And I Do get heavy exhaust smells during regen

Is the exhaust smell in the cab as you are driving? If so then closely inspect the up pipe. It maybe that.
