What Is Fair Price For Paint Job - F150

Hello all,

I have a 2013 F150 short-bed truck and I need a new paint job. Just base coat and clear coat. No additional body work. What is a fair PRICE for a complete paint job ?? I am located in Indiana. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

How nice do you want it? I had my 14 screw repainted after it was vandalized. Total cost with a ton of prep was over 9k and the insurance paid that. Just paint materials alone were over 3k from PPG.

Then expect 10k, the amount of prep sanding and dismantling is intense.

I would strongly disagree with the 10K. This is not CA or NY, I live in Indiana. Indiana is like the "New Mississippi." Poor wages for everyone. And this vehicle is not a Fancy Hotrod. Thanks.

quality paint jobs are spendy, no matter if your local economy is down the paint and materials cost is gonna be the close. Go get an estimate.

In short, it is really area dependent but, if you go with good quality materials (not the most expensive but not the cheap crap either), you are looking in the area of $1-$1.5K+ for materials (including masking tape, etc.), and then $2k+ for labor plus bodywork...…...and there is always some bodywork that is needed.

The cost of the materials doesn't vary much. The PPG paint is still right around 750.00 a gallon for this factory paint. Mine booked out at 3 gallons base, 2 gallons 2k primer and 2 gallons of 2k clear. Materials from PPG were right around 3k and then there was 180 hours of labor.

Just to clarify, that's 4 1/2 work weeks for one person start to finish. I'm not knowledgeable on body work and paint. How many hours would you estimate for just a paint job?

Let me see if I can find my breakdown, it was 4 pages of labor breakdowns on the invoice. Also 180 hours goes fast in a shop environment when you are billing multiple people to a job.
